Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Müge Yücel ("I", "me") collects and uses personal data through mugeyucel.com.

Contact form

• Name, email, organization name, message
• Depending on the topic: event name, date, location, format, number of participants, language, workshop format, group size, preferred dates
• Sent to my inbox through Brevo
• A copy, with the date it was sent, is kept on the statistics server in Türkiye so that I can keep track of enquiries

Newsletter signup (IROVISION)

• Name and email
• Stored in a contact list on Brevo
• The date of signup and the page it was made on are recorded on the statistics server in Türkiye, as a record of your consent

Toolkit download

• Name and work email
• The file is sent whether or not you tick the separate newsletter box
• If you tick that box: timestamp, the exact consent text you agreed to, and the version number of this notice at that time are also recorded
• These records are kept on the statistics server in Türkiye

Book reader section

• Email and the code printed in the book
• First and last sign-in, which files were unlocked, and how many were downloaded
• Sign-in links are sent by email through Brevo

Visit statistics

• Every visit is counted without cookies: the page and its title, how long it was read and how far it was scrolled, the site you came from, browser language, window width, the browser's identification string (which shows device and browser type), and approximate location (country and city)
• Your IP address is stored shortened: the last part is removed before anything is saved. The name of the network it belongs to (for example an internet provider, a company or a data center) is stored with it, to tell real visitors from automated traffic
• Nothing is written to or read from your device
• Visits on the same day are told apart by a code made from the shortened address and browser details with a secret that changes daily, so a visitor cannot be recognized from one day to the next
• Location is looked up on the same server; your address is not sent to any other service
• Google Analytics collects its own statistics only if you accept cookies; see Cookies below

• Contact form: to reply to your message - legitimate interest
• Newsletter: only with your explicit consent
• Toolkit download: sending the file is based on legitimate interest, since you requested it; the newsletter opt-in next to it is a separate, explicit consent
• Book reader section: to give readers of the book the files they asked for
• Visit statistics without cookies: to see which pages are read and improve the site - legitimate interest
• Google Analytics: only with your consent, given in the cookie banner, to see which pages are read

• Vercel - website hosting; forms on this site are processed on its servers in the United States
• Brevo - email delivery and contact lists; data is kept in the European Union
• Sanity - storage of site content and reader accounts; data is kept on Google Cloud in Belgium, with some processing in the United States
• Microsoft - my email inbox, where contact form messages arrive
• The web agency that maintains this site - the cookieless visit statistics and the form records (contact messages, newsletter signups, Toolkit downloads) are kept on its server in Türkiye
• Google - visit statistics (Google Analytics), only if you accept cookies

These are service providers who process data on my behalf under their data processing terms. Where data leaves Europe, those terms rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Data is not sold to anyone.

• Contact form messages: the copy on the statistics server for one year; in my inbox, one year after the last exchange
• Newsletter contacts: until you unsubscribe; the record of your signup, three years after that, as Turkish rules on commercial electronic messages require
• Toolkit download records: one year after the download
• Newsletter consent given with a Toolkit download: while the subscription lasts, and three years after it ends, as Turkish rules on commercial electronic messages require
• Book reader section: one year after your last sign-in
• Visit statistics: twelve months
• Google Analytics data: for the period set in Google Analytics, at most fourteen months

Records kept on this site and on the statistics server are deleted automatically when their period ends.

Under KVKK and GDPR, you can ask me to:

• Give you access to the data I hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data
• Object to how your data is processed
• Give you your data in a portable format

To use any of these rights, write to info@mugeyucel.com. To keep your visits out of the statistics, turn on "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" in your browser.

Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click removes you from the list.

• The icons on this site are loaded from Google's servers, which receive your IP address when a page opens
• Podcast episodes play in Spotify's player, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies; Spotify's privacy policy applies to it

• Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga) to count visits and tell returning visitors apart. They are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner
• Your choice is kept in your browser's local storage and asked again after twelve months. You can change it at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page; declining after accepting removes the Google Analytics cookies
• The visit statistics described above use no cookies and store nothing on your device
• The book reader section uses a session cookie, needed for that feature to work
• There are no advertising cookies

If this notice changes, the version number goes up and the effective date is updated. Earlier versions are kept on file and available on request.
